Egg Slicer

Halves, slices or wedges – fully automated

The Steven BV egg slicer enables eggs to be cut in an efficient and hygienic way into wedges or into horizontal or vertical slices. You can choose to place the cut eggs separately for fast downstream processing, or to keep the eggs together for better hygiene retention.

The problem

The challenges of cutting eggs manually

Egg processors in the food industry know the challenge: manual cutting is time-consuming, produces inconsistent results and requires more staff than necessary. One employee cuts differently than another, and as production goes on precision drops. The result is eggs that don’t look uniform – a problem for end products such as meal salads, tapas and bread toppings where presentation matters.

In addition, manual cutting causes significant waste. Incorrectly cut eggs (too crooked, bruised or cracked) cannot be used in the end product. This direct production loss weighs on margins, especially at high volumes.

The availability of staff for repetitive work is a growing bottleneck in the food industry. Automation is therefore not only a matter of efficiency, but of business continuity.

The solution

How the Steven BV egg slicer works

The Steven BV egg slicer is designed for a controlled and hygienic cutting process. A bag of eggs is placed manually in the drip tray, cut open, and the eggs can drain for an adjustable amount of time. Once the eggs have drained sufficiently, they are tipped into the main hopper.

From the hopper, eggs are fed one by one automatically. Each fed egg falls into a holder, after which a pusher drives the egg through a cutting frame with constant force. This controlled process ensures uniform cut quality for every egg.

Choice of multiple cutting frames for maximum flexibility

The machine uses interchangeable cutting frames. Depending on the desired end shape (halves, horizontal or vertical slices, or wedges) the corresponding cutting frame is installed. Changing over to another cutting frame takes on average just 10 minutes, which makes the machine highly flexible for varying production demands.

Cut eggs separated or kept together

After cutting you can choose to place the eggs separately for fast downstream processing, or to keep the eggs together for better hygiene retention. This makes the machine adaptable to the specific requirements of the next step in the production line.

Standalone use, easy to integrate

The Steven BV egg slicer can be used fully standalone and operated by a single operator. At the same time, the machine is suitable for integration into existing production lines, such as a wrap line, sandwich line, salad line or tapas line.

Benefits

What the egg slicer delivers for your production

Significant labor savings

Manual cutting and post-inspection become unnecessary. Where previously multiple employees cut eggs by hand, one operator now handles this with the machine. Freed-up staff can be deployed where human expertise adds more value.

Less waste and production loss

The automated cutting process is more consistent than manual work. The pusher forces every egg through the cutting frame with equal pressure, strongly reducing eggs that come out crooked, bruised or rejected.

High processing capacity

Approximately 1,500 eggs per hour in continuous production. This makes the machine suitable for industrial volumes without needing extra staff.

Consistent product quality

Regardless of who operates the machine or how long production runs, the end product always has the same cut shape. Essential for meal salads and tapas where presentation determines acceptance by retailers.

Fast changeover to another cutting shape

Switch between halves, slices and wedges in just approximately 10 minutes. The interchangeable cutting frames provide maximum flexibility per production order.

Hygienic design with food-grade materials

SS 304 and FDA-approved plastics (POM, HMPE, PEEK). The machine is designed with food safety as the starting point, in line with HACCP guidelines.

APPLICATIONS

What applications is the egg slicer suitable for?

The Steven BV egg slicer is used by various types of processors in the food industry. The machine only processes eggs and is not suitable for other products.

Meal salad producers use the machine to cut eggs quickly and uniformly as a topping or ingredient. The consistent cut shape ensures a professional presentation that meets the requirements of retailers and food service customers.

Tapas manufacturers and producers of stuffed eggs benefit from the ability to cut eggs into equal halves, ready for immediate processing. The machine can be combined with a tapas line for an integrated production flow.

Producers of bread toppings and sandwich lines integrate the egg slicer into their wrap line or sandwich line for efficient processing of cut eggs as a topping component.

CUSTOMIZATION

Customization tailored to your production

In addition to the cutting frames, adjustments to line integration are also possible. The machine can be connected to a wrap line, sandwich line, salad line or tapas line, tailored to the input and output requirements of your existing systems.

The cutting frames are made to measure as standard, tailored to the desired cut shape and the egg size you process. Whether you need eggs in halves, slices or wedges, the cutting frame is matched to your end product.

At Steven BV, there is no standard solution. Every egg slicer is designed and built based on your specific situation. This starts with a thorough analysis of your current production process, capacity requirements and future plans.

The custom process follows a set working method: analysis of your question, concept development, engineering, production, installation and after-sales support.
