Machine Overhaul

Machine Overhaul at Steven BV

Many machines in the food industry perform excellently for years, until wear, outdated components, or stricter hygiene standards get in the way. Purchasing a brand-new machine is not always the logical next step. Steven BV provides complete machine overhauls in which we thoroughly assess your existing machine, upgrade it technically, and convert it to stainless steel where necessary.

For companies in the food industry, this is often more than a practical choice. Certifications such as HACCP, IFS, and BRC impose requirements on material use, hygienic design, and the cleanability of machines. A conversion to stainless steel is therefore not optional, it is a prerequisite for continued compliance with current standards.

The result: a machine that functions like new, meets current requirements, and can last for many more years at a fraction of the cost of new equipment.

Our approach

We always start with a thorough inspection of your machine. Based on that inspection, we map out the technical situation, identify what needs to be replaced, and determine which upgrades make sense. We then draw up a clear quotation, so you know exactly what the overhaul entails and what it costs. Once approved, the machine is, where possible, fully overhauled by our technicians at our own facility in Joure. Afterwards, your machine returns to your production line, technically up to date and ready for use.

More than surface-level work

A machine overhaul at Steven BV goes beyond a cosmetic refurbishment. We also look at the technical core: drives, bearings, sensors, control systems, and hygienic connections. Where necessary, we adapt or replace components with more modern alternatives. Your machine leaves our facility not only looking good, but technically improved.

A real-world example

Steel frame replaced with stainless steel

One of our clients works daily with salt products and water, one of the harshest environments imaginable for steel. The steel frame of the machine had taken a serious toll: rust formation, damaged connections, and increasing maintenance issues made continued use a risk. At the same time, the machine itself was still technically sound.

The solution was clear: the entire steel frame was removed and replaced with stainless steel. Stainless steel resists salt and moisture, is easy to clean, and meets the hygiene standards of the food industry. At the same time, the technical components were inspected and upgraded where needed. The end result: a machine that can handle even the most demanding production processes for years to come.

Why choose a machine overhaul?

An overhaul is in many cases the smartest choice: cheaper than new, faster to complete, and without the learning curve of an unfamiliar machine. For companies in the food industry, there is an additional argument. Stainless steel resists water, salt, and acidic products, and meets the requirements that HACCP, IFS, and BRC impose on your production environment.

Aanzienlijke kostenbesparing

Overhaul as a solution for your certification requirements

Companies in the food industry operate under strict standards. HACCP requires a hygienically designed production environment in which materials such as steel or painted iron simply no longer meet requirements. Many processes also involve water, salt, or acidic products, a combination that quickly degrades steel and makes rust formation, paint flaking, and contamination risk unavoidable. IFS and BRC add further requirements regarding the cleanability and maintenance-friendliness of machines.

An overhaul in which steel structures are replaced with stainless steel, connections are adapted to hygienic design, and surfaces are smoothed brings your machine directly in line with these requirements. This allows you to maintain your certification and avoid issues during audits, without the cost and lead time of a completely new machine.
